How do I qualify?

To become a driving instructor you need to pass a three part examination:

  • Part-One tests your knowledge of driving theory, rules and regulations and drivertraining and includes an on-screen hazard perception test.
  • Part-Two is an advanced level driving test
  • Part Three is a test of teaching ability

All three parts of the exam have to be passed within a maximum two-year period; if you are already in a full-time job this gives plenty of time to train and practise. Because of the skill level involved you will need training, but with a good training company and a little hard work this is an easy process. Find out MORE about the ADI Examination.

What does it cost?

Part 1 training is FREE

Part 2 is £25 per hour or 15 hours for £300

Part 3 is £25 per hour or 40 hours for £880

When you have passed part 2 of the quailfying process you may apply for a trainee licence and begin working as a driving instructor.

All training is one to one and is provided by a grade 6 instructor.
